I grew up in the Central Valley of California. I started grooming dogs around the age of 13 and continued that passion for many years. I met my husband in the spring of 2008. He was on a construction job which ended that fall. He moved back to his home town of Sedro-Woolley Washington. I visited him that year for Christmas and absolutely fell in love with not only his family, but also the community there. I chose to make a huge leap of faith and moved here in March of 2009!
I was able to transfer and continue grooming up in Bellingham. We lived in a small apartment for a year and saved all the money we could. We found a dream property the following year and were able to buy it a few months before our wedding day! A home with 8 acres of sandy loam on flat land along the Skagit River. It wasn't until quite a few years later that I actually found my passion for farming flowers.
I became a stay at home mom after my second son was born, leaving my grooming career was a very difficult choice but I knew it was the best for my family. We went on to have a daughter in the spring of 2015 and by the time she was one I was itching to find something that I enjoyed that wasn't centered around my children. Enter flowers!
The first year my garden was only about 25' by 25'. I kept most of the flowers for myself and sold a few at my little farm stand my husband had built me. I loved being able to work from home, even though those first few years farming with young children were really tough. I was able to expand my growing area as the kids got older.
I now grow on about a 1/2 acre. My husband helps me till in the spring but otherwise I do the entire farming solo. Its hard, frustrating, dirty work, but also extremely rewarding.
I was able to join the Sedro Woolley Farmers Market in 2019. My best friend/mom has been helping me there and it's truly wonderful having her there with me. I love meeting my customers and seeing their faces light up when they see the flowers. I enjoy when people ask questions and share their passion of flowers with me as well. I could talk flowers all day, everyday!
We bought a 1956 Chevy truck in July of 2021 and are so very excited to start a mobile flower truck! We are doing some much needed upgrades and auto body work. Since we are doing all that work ourselves it may be a year or two before it's up and running but rest assured...we will get there! My goal is to not only sell my own blooms but also LOCAL farmers blooms as well. All flowers on my truck will be grown in the USA, focusing on Washington grown first, then Oregon and California when needed. So many of the flowers sold in the USA are imported and full of chemicals. Our blooms will bring you real colors, real smells, and real quality!
We are at the Sedro Woolley Farmers Market from late June until the end of September. Wednesdays 3pm-7pm.
We are in the process of restoring a 1956 Chevy Truck into a mobile flower truck.
